Course Overview
What do they do - Star Wars. Toy Story. Terminator. Jurassic Park. Finding Nemo. Monsters, Inc. Shrek. Matrix. Harry Potter. In fact, some of the best, most memorable films today are those using CG, or computer graphics, to construct extremely vivid, larger-than-life virtual worlds that would otherwise be impossible to duplicate. As this field evolves and becomes more complex, jobs continue to become more specialized. A film company doesn't just look for a "graphics person" anymore but a "Maya 3D texture artist."

Specializations - Character animators, digital painters, lighting, render wranglers, & more. Job tasks vary by specialization, but always involve a combination of independent work at a computer and cooperative work with others planning and evaluating projects.

Getting Ahead - Move from small-scale, low-paid projects to higher paying ones. Some people go into management.

Skills & Knowledge - Vary with specialty, but all include high-level computer skills, working in an extremely competitive environment, teamwork & others.

This programme is structured as a 2 years Advanced Diploma in Multimedia Design. Upon successful completion of the Advanced Diploma students may elect to undertake a progression programme leading to a Bachelor of Design from Raffles College Pty Ltd, trading as Raffles College of Design and Commerce.You will learn to transform 2-D graphics into the 3-D world by creating interfaces and integrate programming abilities to illustrate the wonders of using multiple forms of interactive media. Most importantly, the program here teaches you to be team a player, to be in tune with new advances and trends within the global framework. You will be ready to face the demand of the fast-evolving multimedia industry.

Career Development
The Multimedia industry has a very promising outlook. However, it faces a critical shortage in quality manpower. The global digital entertainment market is reaching USD100 billion. There are more than 20 million animators and online gamers in China. The value of the animation industry will increase drastically to 100 billion within the next 5 to 10 years. Currently, China needs 150,000 movie animation designer and 100,000 game designers. Currently, there are more than 2000 multimedia companies in Beijing.
